An essential of good aquarium maintenance is the bi-weekly water change. Under most circumstances, ten to fifteen percent of the tank volume is sufficient. An excellent method is to replace water while vacuuming the gravel, which will remove most uneaten foods and other residues that settle over time on the substrate.
Checking both the tank and the replenishment water are highly recommended. Tap water contains chlorine which will not air out. As a result you must use a water conditioner to neutralize the chlorine or risk harming your aquatic plantation and the fish. Using a water conditioner will neutralize the chlorine, but ammonia will still be present in the latter.
Finally, good practices stipulate that water should be checked on a regular basis and should be considered part of your aquarium maintenance routine. At times, it’s possible membranes could be damaged or my require replacement before its expiration date.
Various aquarium lighting performs different functions that aquarium lighting can serve. The primary purpose of aquarium lighting is aesthetic as it illuminate your tank and provides a nicer appearance while also making colors of your fish appear more vivid.
Here at Petware House, we carry special color-enhancing bulbs you can use in order to maximize color of your aquarium fish. Another great purpose for that can be fulfilled by aquarium lighting is the energy for live plants. Plants utilize the process of photosynthesis to turn light into energy and carbon dioxide into oxygen.
Because plants use light as an energy source, you need to make sure that your aquarium lighting system provides for that need. Give us a call here at Petware House or walk into our showroom and we will help you choose the best possible lighting for your tank.
