Love Birds are an affectionate small parrot. They are very social and form deep bonds with their owners and are sometimes very cuddly birds. If you have more than one lovebird they may become more deeply bonded to each other that to you. A single lovebird will do well, as long as it gets the social interaction, affection, and attention that it needs from its human family members. If you are short on time, then it is best to get them a companion.

Feeding
Feed them 3-4 teaspoons per day of a pellet or seed-based, fortified love bird (cockatiel/small hookbill) diet, and make sure to change food dish daily since the dish will appear full (it will be full with empty seed shells). Be sure to provide a cuttle bone or mineral block in your birds cage at all times. Fresh fruit and vegetables can be offered as a treat or reward when training.
Housing
The bigger the better. Your bird's cage must be large enough for them to comfortably stretch their wings, climb and play with their toys. The cage should provide a secure area so they feel safe, but they should also be allowed out of the cage for socialization. The cage should have sand paper perches to help keep nails trimmed down, also be filled with a variety of toys to help prevent boredom and feather plucking.
Maintenance
The cage may be lined with gravel paper or corn cob bedding. Cage cleaning may vary depending on the bird, most cages should be cleaned weekly and don’t forget to wash the toys and perches in the cage. Remember that a mite guard will need to be changed monthly.
Temps
Birds acclimate well to average household temperatures; be cautious of extreme temperature change; cage should be placed off the floor in an area that is well-lit and away from drafts.
